The United States govt lately given a terror warning and advisory. The warning is for Americans to be cautious of possible terrorist threats while traveling in Europe. The United Kingdom and Japan also issued similar cautions to their citizens. The alerts concern a captured jihadist who is a German citizen. However, there is a lot of skepticism from the German govt.

American alert leads to Japan terror warning

The govt in Japan gave a terrorist warning. This was issued to all citizens abroad and going abroad at the time. Caution was warned to Japanese nationals. It was given to those going to Europe for travel. People going abroad on holiday or for business purposes have been warned to be cautious in public places. The warning stresses being careful while using public transport and while sightseeing in popular tourist locations, based on the Christian Science Monitor. The Japan terror alert was issued a day following the United States of America State Department given a similar caution. There was an additional A.U.K. terror alert issued. This was after Washington’s announcement. There hasn’t been any info from the C.I.A. yet.

A danger originating from Germany

The Al Qaeda plot for terrorist attacks in Europe first began with the arrest of a man. CNN reports that this man was a German citizen. A jihadist group recruited Ahmed Sidiqi Algerian who left with 10 others from Pakistan in 2009. Sidiqi was captured as they fought coalition forces in Afghanistan. Sidiqi begun to attend the Taiba mosque in Hamburg following converting from Sinni to Shia. The group was recruited from there. The Taiba mosque is known for being the mosque attended by Mohammed Atta, who was the leader among the men involved within the 9/11 attacks.

What is the degree of risk?

Three governments take the terror alert level seriously. There are really skeptical Germans in the German intelligence services. The German govt has said it is totally safe to go to some places. Two of these places are Stuttgart and Hamburg.
